An unfortunate crash on the A590 meant Walney Island’s West Lancashire League match against Burscough Dynamo didn’t start until 3:30pm after they arrived just half an hour earlier.
The visitors didn’t show too many signs of the extended bus trip and were 3-0 up after an hour thanks to goals from Kieran Sollaway, Zach Walker and a James Bailey header. Burscough rang the changes and Walney switched off to concede three quick goals but with only ten minutes remaining, two more crunching headers from Bailey made the long trip worthwhile.
Askam United remain unbeaten in Division One, as Callum Rayner scored their goal in a 1-1 draw at home to Wyre Villa.
Hawcoat Park picked up their first three points of the season with a 5-2 win on the road at Hesketh Bank, Hacken McCracken, Carl Mackay, Jack Milburn and Elliott Moore (2) their marksmen.
Millom also won on the road, 3-2 at newly-promoted Horwich St Marys Victoria, with Jamie Pattinson (2) and Ben McDonald on target
Ulverston Rangers came from 3-0 down at half-time to Lostock St Gerards to draw 3-3, with Sam Lawlor (2) and Sam Pinnegor their scorers in a great second half showing.
Crooklands Casuals lost 1-0 away to Stoneclough, while a young Vickerstown side lost 5-1 at Euxton Villa after initially taking the lead through Will McGuire.
