Furness Golf Club's new Junior section took to the course last Friday to tee off the 'Presidents Day’ weekend in some style.
Nearly 30 competitors took part in a chipping, putting and driving competition designed so that kids of all ages and abilities stood a chance of walking away with the prizes.
In the 4-10-year-old category, Ollie Ellis won the chipping, Zach Cleece the putting and Thomas Pearson took home the long drive prize from those who are just starting out in the sport.
Meanwhile, in the 11-16-year-old category, Evan Rushton was victorious in the putting, Jo Burrows had an almost 100 per cent score in the chipping and Adam Faragher blazed his way to the longest drive prize.
All the juniors showed off their skills in front of a sizeable crowd of parents and club members who gave all the children great encouragement. Afterwards, all the juniors were presented with their trophies by club president John Ellis and captain Stu McAloone.

The club have recently started holding training sessions for budding golfers, while they hosted their first Junior Night in nearly 20 years last month.
