Barrow will be one of the four venues for the Girls Golf Rocks courses that will be taking place around Cumbria during the spring.
Run jointly by England Golf and the Golf Foundation, Girls Golf Rocks is aimed at girls aged five to 18 and is made up of a free taster session before going into a six-week coaching course.
Barrow's taster session will take place on Saturday, May 18, between 2:30-4:30pm at Barrow Golf Club, on Rakesmoor Lane.
The coaching course will then commence from Saturday, May 25 at the same venue, with each session lasting for one hour from 2:30pm.
At the taster sessions, the newcomers will get together with other beginner girls to relax and play fun games.
PGA professional coaches will lead the activities and Girls Golf Rocks ambassadors from local clubs and the county girls’ squad will be on hand to help and encourage.
Equipment will be provided and there will be plenty of time to chat and make new friends.
Girls can wear what they like as long, as it’s comfy and keeps them warm, with trainers acceptable.
Girls who enjoy the taster can go on to join a beginner coaching group, where they’ll learn the basics during the six weekly sessions. They will also have the chance to get out on the golf course on the sixth week and play in a team alongside the Girls Golf Rocks ambassadors.
