THIS was again a familiar sight across the area on Saturday afternoon as all of the scheduled football and rugby league matches were postponed due to the wet weather.
The entire Furness Premier League fixture list was wiped out, as were the two Furness Senior Cup quarter-finals as well.
Even teams outside of South Cumbria in the West Lancashire League did not escape as every fixture in that competition fell victim to the rain as well.
Meanwhile, Askam, Barrow Island, Walney Central, Roose Pioneers and Dalton all had their rugby games postponed.
There was one football match played elsewhere, but it saw Holker Old Boys beaten 7-1 away to Lower Breck in North West Counties League First Division North.
Brad Hubbold scoring Holkers consolation effort after 88 minutes. The result means Holker are six points clear of the relegation zone with six games remaining.
