HOLKER Old Boys are aiming to pick up where they left off when Shelley visit Rakesmoor Lane in North West Counties League First Division North tomorrow.
Old Boys were left kicking their heels last Saturday when their scheduled home match with AFC Liverpool fell victim to the freezing-cold temperatures in the area.
That match has since been re-arranged for Saturday, March 2, but for now attention is on the visit of one of the division’s mid-table teams as Holker aim to widen the gap between themselves and the bottom two.
Shelley were 3-1 winners when the teams met back in November, but Kevin Watkin’s side have enjoyed an upturn in fortunes in recent weeks which has lifted them out of the relegation zone.
The entire Furness Premier League fixture list fell victim to the weather last week too, as did the scheduled Furness Senior Cup quarter-finals.
The new dates for those cup matches have yet to be confirmed, so for now it is back to league matters.
Premier Division leaders Bootle travel to Britannia tomorrow, while second-placed Kirkby United host one of the chasing pack in Croftlands Park.
At the top of Division One, Hawcoat Park A or Barrow Wanderers could go top if they win against Vickerstown A and Croftlands reserves respectively due to British Legion not having a game, while the four-way battle for the title continues in Division Two.
