READERS say it's 'about time' plans are being put in place to take action to reduce congestion caused by takeaway delivery drivers.
Restrictions on the time Uber Eats drivers are allowed to wait on a busy town centre are due to be considered by councillors.
It follows concerns that the drivers are causing congestion on Barrow's Crellin Street as they wait to pick up food from nearby McDonald's and other eateries.
The drivers are said to be causing issues for emergency services vehicles and obstructing traffic at junctions.
Linda Sandham said: "About time plus they want pulling for speeding."
Christian Dobby said: "Waste of time they also drive around with no insurance and the police allow them to take the cars home afterwards.
"One smashed into me whilst on his phone mounting the kerb, had no insurance then the owner who turned up was left to take the vehicle home yet his insurance are trying to not pay out as they never said he could allow someone else to drive it."
Jme Wall said: "The speeds they do down school street as well! Just stop Uber eats at town Maccies for everyone's safety."
Ron Davies said: "I got fined for not being in a parking bay halfway on double yellows and had a disabled badge but got a ticket, these guys park on no loading or unloading and get away with it leaving the cars unattended with engines left running where the justice?"
wrecsam jon said: "It's not congestion that's the problem, it's their driving skills or lack of!! Absolute loonies."
Bill Kendall said: "Not defending Uber drivers but Taxis have been clogging both sides of Crellin street (on double yellow lines) for decades, no one was bothered."
Keith17 said: "We don't need new rules for a crackdown on illegal parking, just the rules enforcing for everyone without fear or prejudice.
"The police and traffic wardens just seem to ignore Uber drivers for some reason. That goes for checking them for vehicle tax, business insurance and mots."
Hermes10 said: "Who on earth is going to enforce all of theses restrictions? Your lucky to see a parking enforcement officer at all. You would need two or three of them to take all the registrations and times cars park, leave and return all day long. Put double red lines on Crellin St and Church Street so there is no stopping at all."
