A MAN has been charged after footage emerged of him allegedly launching a racist tirade against a woman onboard a train.
The victim in the alleged attack, Shahina Patel, filmed the incident on her mobile phone after a man on a train between London and Manchester allegedly racially abused her in June.
The man is alleged to have blamed the woman for the Manchester terror attack in which 22 people lost their lives when an Islamic extremist blew himself up at a pop concert.
He then allegedly tells her it was her “family who made this happen”.
Throughout the video the man insists he is not being racist or aggressive.
He says: “I’m not against Muslims, I’m against extremist people.”
Miss Patel later reported the incident to British Transport Police.
David Blagburn, 47, of Vicarage Mount on Walney, has been charged with one count of racially aggravated harassment and a public order offence.
He is due to appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court on Tuesday November 7.
