A selfless champion of the Ulverston community who is part of a dedicated team that provides meals for the homeless and elderly has been nominated for an upcoming award.
Volunteers for the Carelink Community Project provide freshly-cooked meals which are then delivered to by a team of drivers to people in the area.
One of their volunteers, Lynn Matthews, has been nominated for a Heart of Ulverston Award for 2016.
The nominator of Mrs Matthews, Sarah Svatins, said: "She (Lynn) is like a little ray of sunshine, and always has a cheery smile whenever I see her.
"She is very humble and self-effacing, so I think that she deserves recognition for the splendid - and very much appreciated - work she does.
"Lynn gives up a huge amount of time each week to cook and deliver healthy, appetising meals to various members of the community in Ulverston."
Mrs Matthews has been nominated for this year's Helping Hand Award, which recognises those who go the extra mile to help the community.
Mrs Matthews said:"As a Christian, for me it is about showing God's love to people.
"For a lot of people simple things such as planning a meal and doing their weekly shop can be hard, and we can take things like this for granted.
"For these people it is a big thing, so to lift that pressure off them, speak to them and have that contact is very rewarding."
