A CELEBRATION of all things Dickensian is coming to Ulverston.
The two-day event will take place over November 25 and 26 in the market town which will be packed full of activities for all the family including costume parades, stalls and performances.
Streets will be lined with traders, festival-goers will be sporting fashion items of yesteryear and piping glasses of mulled wine will almost certainly be served.
The historic market town is full of fantastic shops, great pubs, cafes, and cobbled streets.
Dickensian Festival always boasts a huge variety of free entertainment, free events for children, fabulous Christmas market stalls with lots of unique gifts and festive food, costume competitions, horse drawn carriages, music, dancing.
- A procession of period costume will parade through the town accompanied by a marching band, Queen Victoria and Ulverston's mayor.
Starting in County Square at 3pm, the parade will head to New Market Street, Fountain Street and King Street, going past Market Place and on to Queen Street before turning into Theatre Street and finishing at the stage ready for judging to take place at around 3.30pm.
- The Christmas light switch on will take place at 4pm.
- Another grand procession will begin at 2pm in County Square following the same route as Saturday.
Judging will take place at 2.30pm.
As ever, the event, which is sponsored by The Mail, will be covered online and in print before during and once the festive reindeer dust has settled.
