THE Christmas capital of Furness pulled a festive cracker once again this year with its 17th amazing firework display.

Young and old put on their winter woollies to head out to watch the spectacular event and sing along to some traditional carols on Christmas Eve.

Even Santa himself did a fly-past over Dalton, cunningly disguised as the International Space Station at about 5.21pm.

This year's Christmas Eve extravaganza was organised by Jamie Samson who said that sadly next year’s event may not be able to go ahead.

He said they would need £2,500 to put it on again and appealed for local businesses and residents to help raise money to keep the popular tradition going.

Boom Dang kicked off the festivities with their amazing drumming and Dalton Town Band gave its 141st festive performance in the town with some Christmas carols.

The amazing fireworks had children clapping their hands and the huge finale saw a huge cheers from the gathered crowd.

Speaking after the event, Mr Samson, who is also involved in organising the annual town carnival, said: “There weren’t as many people as last year, probably because of the weather, but it’s been a great success.

“To be able to do it again next year we are going to have to raise £2,500.

“We want to be able to put it on again and keep this popular Dalton tradition going.

"I would ask any local business or residents who want to help make it happen to get in touch.

“I would like to thank The Castle Chinese Takeaway, The Red Lion, Boom Dang and Dalton Town Band for all there help.”
