A DALTON man poured a pan of hot water over himself and then threw a TV remote control which hit his wife.
Stephen John Cooper of Chapel Street, Dalton appeared for sentencing at Furness Magistrates' court on August 30 after previously pleading guilty to assault by beating.
The court heard how Cooper drank four cans of Carling, one bottle of wine and a third of a bottle of vodka.
Trystan Roberts, defending said it was "abundantly clear that his client showed an enormous amount of remorse."
He was given a six month community order and ordered to complete an alcohol treatment programme as well as pay a £120 fine, court costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £85.
