Police can confirm that the man who died following the collision on the A5092 yesterday morning has been identified as Mark Anthony Mcnulty, aged 26, of Fir Trees Road, Lostock Hall, Preston.
The collision occurred at around 10.10am on the A5092 at Gawthwaite, and involved a Ford Transit van, driven by Mr McNulty, and a HGV.
Mr McNulty was taken to Furness General Hospital by air ambulance where he later died as a result of his injuries.
The driver of the HGV, a 36-year-old man from Merseyside, suffered minor injuries.
Mr McNulty’s family are being supported by specially trained officers and inquiries around the circumstances of the collision are continuing.
Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to call Cumbria Police on 101 and ask to speak to the Mobile Support Group.
