AN appeal has been launched on social media after two tiny kittens were found in the middle of the residential street in Barrow.
The two kittens were discovered in Longway in Barrow last night in the middle of the road. They are believed to be around five-weeks-old.
Animal Refuge fosterer and volunteer Kirsty Jepson is due to take the two kittens in and has made an appeal on Facebook to find any of the kittens' siblings and reunite them with their mother, who Miss Jepson said is at "huge risk".
In her post, Miss Jepson said: "We really need help so can this post please be shared.
"This is for people in the Longway area of Barrow. Last night two kittens were found in the middle of the road.
"These kittens are believed to be around five weeks old. Mum is believed to be a black and white cat. A small cat that does look young.
"The kittens were taken to safety by the finder but mum is still out. We aren't sure if there was more babies and mum was in the middle of moving her babies as the babies don't appear to be feral.
"They're not believed to have fleas and they are friendly. It's important we find the owner of the cat and we also need to catch mum and if there are more, her babies.
"Any remaining babies are at huge risk being out and mum is at risk of getting pregnant, if she isn't already. Anyone with an un-neutered black and white female on Longway please contact me.
"Mum was hanging around between numbers 18-24 longway so this may be where she lives or has other babies. The babies that are safe need their mum and she also needs them. Let's get them reunited asap."
Anyone with any information is asked to call Animal Refuge on 01229 832500.
