AN Eddie Stobart truck hit a railway bridge in Barrow and became stuck underneath it, causing substantial damage to the vehicle and lengthy delays to trains.
The HGV struck Salthouse Road bridge at about 2pm on Saturday and needed to be assessed for structural damage.
One of the signs on the bridge above was dislodged as a result of the impact.
Police were called to the scene and a section of the road between the Vulcan Road junction and the Durham Street junction was shut while recovery work took place.
