A Man who racially abused two women in Windermere has escaped jail.
Gary Thomas Walling, 50, appeared at Furness Magistrates' Court on August 2 where he faced charges of racially aggravated use of threatening and abusive words or behaviour with intent to cause harassment.
Walling, of Orrest Drive Flats, Windermere, was given two 12-week sentences, suspended for 12 months, for verbally harassing two women in the town on April 21.
The sentences are to run concurrently and were issued because of the serious nature of the offence and the fear caused to the victims.
Walling was also given a curfew with an electronic tag for 16 weeks between 7pm and 7am.
