PLANS to place holiday pods on a field in a Lake District village have been dropped.
A planning application to site three holiday pods on land at Hill Farm in Ings has been withdrawn.
According to planning documents, the proposed development would have formed part of a farm diversification scheme and would provide an additional source of income.
The planning statement added the applicants considered the proposed development ‘appropriate’ for the location and said the extra visitors would benefit the local community by providing more customers for the local pub as the site will not offer food and drink.
However, a number of objections had been submitted by local residents due to concerns including light pollution and the impact on the local bat population.
Previously an application for three lodges on a different part of the field was withdrawn by the applicants after a planning officer raised concern over the impact of the proposals on neighbouring amenity, the planning statement says.
The plans were withdrawn on December 2.
