A BARROW man who was stopped in a public place with a baton has been ordered to complete unpaid work as punishment.
Jamie Robinson, of Near Field Walk, pleaded guilty at the first opportunity to possessing an offensive weapon in a public place without lawful authority or reasonable excuse at South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court on November 25.
The 38-year-old was caught with the baton in Millstone Avenue on May 13 earlier this year, court records show.
He was sentenced to a 12-month community order with one single requirement of completing 80 hours of unpaid work.
Magistrates ordered for the forfeiture and destruction of the weapon.
Robinson was also told to pay court costs of £85, as well as a £114 surcharge.
