THE LAKE District’s quirkiest annual Christmas market is gearing up to welcome its usual crowd of revellers this weekend.
The Keswick Victorian Fayre is a one-day event held on Sunday December 1 in the majestically beautiful market town, surrounded by some of the Lake District's most iconic peaks.
Kicking off at 10am in the town's main square and Packhorse Court, visitors can expect around 25 stalls set up in support of local charities selling food, drink and Christmas goodies, with stallholders kitted out in authentic Victorian garb.
A children’s funfair will run all day, and Santa himself will make an appearance in the morning to meet the most well-behaved of the children.
Rousing seasonal melodies from a host of bands will be serenading visitors from the main square, including from school choirs, brass bands, and even a touch of rock.

The usual raffle will take place to be drawn in the afternoon, with Andy Airey of Three Dads Walking introducing the opening ceremony.
MCs will be on hand throughout the day to introduce the acts and let people know what’s going on and where until the event winds to a close at 4.30pm.
To help make the Keswick Victorian Fayre more accessible to all, Cumberland Council has removed charges for the day from the central car park.
It should be a great way to kick off December – we may see you there!
The event has attracted numerous local supporters, including main sponsors Quilted Cheviot Financial Planning and Lake District Hotels.
