Windermere Ferry is now back in service following a mechanical fault.
The service was suspended two weeks ago on November 14 after an inspection revealed a fault with one of the drive wheels.
There was no choice but to suspend the service for the safety of passengers and crew.
According to the Windermere Ferry Facebook page, as of this afternoon (November 28) the ferry is back in service.
Speaking on its Facebook, a spokesperson for Windermere Ferry said: "Previous to this work, we had located the missing drive wheel and marked it with a buoy ready for retrieval.
"The additional parts had been manufactured in preparation for the wheel to be refitted and the north drive wheel has been inspected and additional measures have been put in place to prevent a reoccurrence of this issue.
"Due to the poor weather brought about by Storm Bert, the contractor carrying out the recovery operation was delayed as they had to wait for a weather window suitable for the dive.
"We thank you for your understanding and patience around this issue and apologise that our communications surrounding this fault have not been up to our normal standard."
