Stand-up and TV star Ed Byrne is bringing his national 'Tragedy Plus Time' tour to Ulverston in January.

Having now been performing the show for nearly two years, the comedian has made the decision to extend his time on the road, which will once again be bringing him to Cumbria to kick off the New Year.

Ed will be at The Coronation Hall on Sunday, January 12 at 7.30pm, with tickets - available here - priced at £32.50.

The 'Tragedy Plus Time' has been the most intimate and personal shows that the comedian has brought to the public to date following the death of his younger brother Paul, aged just 44, in February 2022.

Ed said: "I was in two minds about whether to do a show of this nature - but once I started down that road, that was it.

"Then my main worry was, how funny is it going to be and is it going to work?”

It has been a choice that has so far worked out well for Ed with the tour being named as British Comedy Guide’s 'Best Comedy Show 2023' and Edinburgh 2023’s 'Best Reviewed Show'.

“I’ve spoken to people who worked with Paul, who was a comedy director, and they’ve said that his thing was, ‘you can be as emotional as you like and as serious as you like, but there has to be a joke’," he said.

"So the idea of saying something purely for the emotional gut punch was off the table.

"It illustrates how grief works in that you can still have a good time, you can still be happy, you can still have a laugh about other things and be frivolous."

Having been a regular on the stand-up scene for decades and a fan favourite on shows such as 'Mock the Week', the new subject matter has been challenging Ed's performing skills.

"I was aware, when I was first writing and performing this new show, that there was a danger I might, you know, lose it onstage," he said.

"But I don’t want it to be the sort of thing where I rip my heart out and stamp on it for the audience’s delectation - I’ve been able to throttle back my emotions and keep them in check.”
