A festive event in Furness this weekend is aiming to get the community involved in a unique way.
The Christmas Lights switch-on is returning to Askam on Saturday, November 30 from 4.30pm, with the main event centring around a procession from Platform One Cafe to the Memorial Garden.

As part of that parade, residents are being asked to show their creativity by decorating umbrellas that will be carried in the procession.
Councillor Ben Shirley explained: "As has become somewhat of a tradition, we’re inviting people to decorate an umbrella with Christmas decorations for a short festive walk from Platform One to the Christmas tree."
The switch-on is expected to happen at 6pm following the parade, with further entertainment coming from the Askam Town Silver Band.
The event has been made possible thanks to the financial backing of Askam and Ireleth Parish Council, after it was revealed in October that the Askam and Ireleth events committee would no longer be able to organise it.
