A HOST of ex-professional footballers and TV stars will be taking part in the first Dave Myers memorial match next year.

On Sunday it was confirmed that Dave Day would be returning on June 21 and 22, building upon the success of its debut earlier in 2024.

Taking the celebrations even further, the weekend announcement shared that a special football match at Barrow AFC will make up part of the event.

This will see a team of bikers take on North West Community Stars FC, a team comprising ex-professionals, TV personalities and local players.

Dan Ferguson, the founding member and CEO of the club, said: "We are truly honoured to be coming to Barrow to play a special match.

"Our players are so excited to attend this special weekend and we have our hotel booked so we can all join in with the fun with you.

"Even if you don't like football, we would encourage you to attend the match because, without giving too much away at the moment, as a club we put a lot more on than just the match - we try to make it enjoyable for everyone from all ages."

"It's an honour for us to play a small part in what is going to be a great weekend in memory of one of this country's favourite sons."

Further details about the match, including ticketing arrangements and VIP boxes, will be made available in the new year.
