A 1970s glam-rock band is set to play in Ulverston.

T-Rex, formed by the late Marc Bolan, will perform live at Roxy cinema on December 14 at 7.30pm.

The band had 11 hits in the Top Ten, with four reaching the number one spot.

They will be playing all the hits from the 70s, including 'Metal Guru', 'Ride A White Swan', 'Telegram Sam', 'Teenage Dream', 'Children of the Revolution', 'I Love to Boogie', 'Jeepster', 'Get it On', '20th Century Boy', 'Hot Love' and more.

The band was reformed in 1997 by Mickey Finn, 20 years after the death of Mr Bolan.

This was with the blessing of Mr Bolan's son Rolan, along with Jack Green and Paul Fenton, who remains with the band.

Other band members are Jay Spargo, lead vocal; Graham Oliver, guitar; Dave Major, keyboards; Linda Dawson, backing vocals; and Tony Allday, bass.

Charles Morris, owner of the Roxy, said: "The Roxy is an ideal venue for an event of this sort.

"Our stage is nearly the full width of the auditorium and the layout of the seats makes it almost ‘in the round’; it was a brilliant atmosphere last year and everyone enjoyed it.

"It’s just the thing to cheer us all up after the year we’ve had."

Tickets cost £19.50 and are on sale via the cinema’s website.

Alternatively, you can buy tickets from the cinema box office, Grange Emporium or Grange over Sands.
