A man has been arrested after a series of night time thefts across Kendal.

South Lakes Police have arrested a man who is suspected of being involved in the ongoing thefts from vehicles, sheds and outbuildings across Kendal.

Officers from the Neighbourhood Policing Team and Tactical Support Group located and arrested a man yesterday.

A number of searches were conducted and stolen property was recovered.

The investigation is ongoing and police are following a number of lines of enquiry.

Kirkbarrow, Kendal Green and Oxenholme appear to be the most heavily targeted areas.

If you have been the victim of one of these offences and not yet reported it, you can get in touch on 101 or report online.

Police are keen to have the fullest picture of where and when these offences have been committed.

To help prevent these offences occurring and provide the best opportunity to catch and convict the offenders, South Lakes Police are asking people to:

  • Report all crimes or suspicious incidents by calling 101 or 999 in an emergency or crime in progress
  • Check that the lenses of CCTV and Doorbell Camera's are clean
  • Use good quality, high strength locks on sheds and outbuildings
  • Ensure that any outside lighting is in working order

They also advise adding your bikes to a Police approved national database, here.

If buying a second hand bike, you can check it's not listed as stolen by looking here.

"Use high quality bike marking products to help us identify stolen bikes when conducting searches," Police said, "Take photos of your bike and record the frame serial number."
