A PERMANENT tribute to honour the late Dave Myers has been commissioned in the Hairy Biker's hometown.

Artist Shawn Sharpe is hard at work creating the stunning display on the side of a Barrow pub.

The Kings on Dalton Road is donning the beautiful mural following the success of Dave Day and the emotional impact that it had on everyone.

When the company was discussing a mural on the side of the Kings, Shawn, who used to live in Barrow and still has family in the town, was naturally interested.

Amber Taverns commissioned Shawn to paint Mother on the side of Hogarths, Pauline in the Yellow Dress on the side of The Northern Way, and Betsy Leigh on the rear of The Wheatsheaf, Ashton on RibbleAmber Taverns commissioned Shawn to paint Mother on the side of Hogarths, Pauline in the Yellow Dress on the side of The Northern Way, and Betsy Leigh on the rear of The Wheatsheaf, Ashton on Ribble (Image: Amber Taverns) The mural has been in the planning for eight months.

Amber Taverns reached out to Dave’s family to get their consent and Shawn was able to commit to creating the artwork with the full consent of Dave’s wife Liliana.

Brian Clarke has been running The Kings for over 20 years.

He said: “Dave Day was an amazing event and brought both the community of Barrow, and the biking community, together. It can only be good for the area and town. Barrow was firmly put back onto the map.

“I'm proud as punch. It's wonderful to be able to create something for a legend, and the community of Barrow, and indeed the fans of the Hairy Bikers.

“The pub has a big beer garden, and with the nice weather we had on Dave Day 2024, we were very busy.

"The whole town was busy, good for business, hence why we felt we should try and do something extra to help what has been a successful event for the town.

“There has been over 2,000 likes on our Facebook Post so that proves just how popular the event and future events will be.”

Shawn has been working on the mural all week and the wall will hopefully be finished on Friday.

“We have identified a few more walls for Shawn to work his magic.”
