PLANS have been lodged to convert a house into a children’s home in Kendal.
Therapeutic Care Ltd has applied to Westmorland and Furness Council for a lawful development certificate to convert a property on Wattsfield Road into a children’s home for two under 18s.
Planning documents state: “The proposal is to use the property as a home for 2 young persons in need of care with carers attending as necessary, but no more than two carers in residence overnight, and with carers rotated on a rota.
“A manager would be in attendance during normal working hours.”
According to the planning statement, the chief executive of Therapeutic Care Ltd, Caroline Williams, has more than 15 years’ experience in running children’s care homes, which have been rated as ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’ by OFSTED over this period.
This application is under consideration by Westmorland and Furness Council.
