A WOMAN has been sentenced after she was caught with a three-inch knife in Barrow town centre.
Michaela Gallagher had a 7.62-centimetre folding lock knife in her possession without good reason or lawful authority on Rawlinson Street, Barrow, on April 9.
The 34-year-old pleaded guilty to possessing a knife in a public place at South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court on November 11.
Magistrates said the offence was so serious that only a custodial sentence could be justified.
However, they suspended a six-month sentence for 12 months and ordered for forfeiture and destruction of the knife.
Gallagher, of Gradwell Court, Barrow, was also ordered to pay £85 in court costs.
