PLANS have been submitted to build a new drive-thru Starbucks on the A590.
The world-famous coffeehouse would replace the former Little Chef restaurant chain at the westbound Greystones Services, near Witherslack.
If approved, there would be an extension of the existing building including outside seating areas, a drive-thru lane, 30 car parking spots (including disabled spaces), as well as eight fast-charge electric vehicle charging points.

The store is a 12-minute drive from the M6 and would serve anyone travelling to and fromThe existing buildings were originally built as a Little Chef restaurant and Tourist Information Centre dating back to the 1970s. It closed around 2003 and became an Indian Restaurant for a period of time.
More recently the site was used as a kitchen showroom which closed at the start of the Covid pandemic in 2020.
Consultations have been held with Highways England.
There are currently over 1,000 Starbucks stores dotted across the country including one in both Barrow and Ulverston.
The application has been submitted to the Lake District National Park Authority
