A historic and currently derelict hotel is set to be transformed into a luxury aparthotel by a husband-and-wife duo.
Grey Walls in Windermere has been purchased by Cradel Haus, the luxury holiday accommodation brand led by couple Del and Craig Parsons.
The property has been left derelict for the past five years, according to Cradel Haus, but the team plans to "restore it to its former glory," transforming the space into a "high-end" aparthotel.
Work on the property is expected to start "immediately" with the hope that Grey Walls will be open for bookings by late 2025.
The vision for the property is to create a 17-bed aparthotel which will include two two-bedroom apartments and three large one-bedroom apartments, with the remainder to offer a "studio-style experience."
The apartments will all be equipped with state-of-the-art appliances and technology - including Neff appliances, smart televisions, fibre Wi-Fi, smart heating controls, EV charging, and LED lighting.
Soft furnishings from British manufacturers, underfloor heating, and Italian tiles in the bathroom will all reportedly feature.
There will also be a self-check-in system in place, and all apartments are set to include private, off-road parking, and a communal veranda/terrace to the rear of the property.
Owner Craig Parsons said: "With Grey Walls, we’re excited to breathe new life into a space that holds so much history and potential.
"Our passion for creating luxurious, unforgettable experiences in the Lake District is at the heart of Cradel Haus.
"Restoring Grey Walls is an opportunity to celebrate this beautiful region while providing guests with a unique place to relax, unwind, and make lasting memories."
The renovation of the property is expected to have a significant impact on the local economy, according to a Cradel Haus spokesperson.
Mr Parsons added: "Our plan for the entire project is to use a local workforce and local suppliers.
"With an anticipated £1m build cost and a £500k boost to the wider economy, Grey Walls is a project that will really benefit Windermere and the surrounding area."
Grey Walls will join Cradel Haus’s existing portfolio of properties, which also includes Fair Rigg, in Bowness-on-Windermere, a collection of four holiday apartments.
