VOLUNTEER rescuers were called out last night (Monday) after a farmer's dog was spooked and ran off into Morecambe Bay.
Bay Search and Rescue was contacted by a local farmer after this border collie, called Paisley, ran into the bay at Humphrey Head between Grange and Flookburgh.
A spokesman said: "Despite the tide not being particularly big there was still plenty of water about and the team from Arnside swam a few deep channels with the Sherp whilst our Flookburgh team covered the sands with our Hagglund based at our headquarters at Flookburgh.
"Despite a lengthy search with the drone and its thermal imaging capability from the Sherp, nothing was found and we returned to our respective bases around 11.30 pm having exhausted all our batteries for the drone and having covered several square miles in the Hagglund."
They described Paisley as 'very friendly' and urged anyone who sees her to contact BSAR.
