A MAN has been jailed after he deliberately breached a restraining order imposed by a court for a second time.
Eion McPoland, of Buccleuch Street, Barrow, without reasonable excuse was in the company of the complainant at her home address, which he was prohibited from doing by a restraining order imposed by Preston Crown Court on December 1 last year.
The 37-year-old pleaded guilty to an offence of harassment – breach of a restraining order on conviction at South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court on November 5.
Magistrates presiding over the case said the offence was ‘so serious that only a custodial sentence could be justified’.
They added McPoland the offence was a ‘deliberate breach’ and that the offence was aggravated by the foreign power condition being met in relation to section 31 of the National Security Act 2023.
As a result, McPoland was jailed for a period of 14 weeks.
