A fundraising initiative across south Cumbria and north Lancashire has now brought in over £20,000.
Organised by CancerCare, the Dare2Dip campaign was first launched in June 2023, encouraging supporters to immerse themselves in cold water to raise funds for the charity.
In October, people were invited to take a dip every single day, with CancerCare revealing that £283.75 was raised in the process - bringing the overall total to £21,295.25.
A spokesperson from the charity said: "We have been so impressed with our dippers' determination and all the money raised will go towards helping us provide vital support for people in our local community coping with cancer and bereavement.
"You don’t need a fancy cold-water pod to take part - dips can be taken in lakes or rivers, or you can just take a cold shower at home."
CancerCare are now looking for people to get involved across the next challenge in January, which you can find out more information about by contacting fundraising@cancercare.org.uk.
