One person has died after a serious crash on the M6 on Wednesday.
Lancashire Police were called at about 11.20am to reports of a serious collision close to junction 33.
The collision involved a HGV travelling northbound which crossed onto the southbound carriageway and collided with several other vehicles.
It resulted in one fatality and several other serious injuries, said police.
Emergency services are still at the scene and the motorway was closed in both directions between junctions 32 and 33.
Police advised people to check before travelling as diversions were in place.
