Three brothers were found guilty of child sex offences in Barrow and Leeds.
Shaha Amran Miah, 48, Shaha Alman Miah, 47, and Shaha Joman Miah, 38, were convicted of child sex offences that occurred between 1996 and 2010.

Pensioner jailed for stalking woman over three weeks whilst on bail
A PENSIONER was jailed after he pursued a course of conduct that amounted to the stalking and harassment of a woman.
John Cassidy, 68, was convicted after a trial at South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court on October 1 of stalking without fear/alarm/distress.

Barrow man with ‘unenviable’ record jailed for absconding during trial
A BARROW man with an ‘unenviable’ criminal record was jailed after he absconded during a rape trial.
Paul Turner fled Preston Crown Court and was apprehended after a 'foot chase' near Barrow's train station.

Man jailed for 'Harrowing' Barrow residential burglary
Barrow was jailed for a burglary committed in Barrow in April 2024.
A MAN fromStephen Anderson, 40, of River Walk, Barrow was sentenced to two years and six months in jail yesterday (30 September) at Preston Crown Court for burglary.

Barrow man with ‘sexual interest in children’ is jailed
A JUDGE jailed a man who he said has a ‘sexual interest in the abuse of very young children’.
Scott Hall, of Pennine Gardens, Barrow, was sentenced at Preston Crown Court after pleading guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children.

Jailed: Millom man convicted of sexually assaulting child under 13
MILLOM man has been jailed after he was found guilty of sexually assaulting a child.
ABrendan Thompson, of Grammerscroft, had denied two counts of assaulting a girl under the age of 13 by penetration and one count of assaulting a girl under the age of 13 by touching.

Stolen vehicle recovered and offender arrested in two hours
A man was jailed after stealing a quad bike.
Cumbria Police Rural Crime Team successfully recovered the stolen vehicle and had the offender arrested within two hours of the offence taking place.

Barrow man demanded £1,000 from lost dog owner - jailed for blackmail
Barrow was jailed for blackmail after he targeted a pet owner appealing for information on a missing dog on social media.
A MAN fromBrandon Woolveridge, 25, of Melbourne Street, Barrow pleaded guilty at Preston Crown Court to blackmail and was sentenced to two years and three months imprisonment.

‘Belligerent’ Barrow man jailed after spitting offences towards police
A ‘BELLIGERENT’ man with ‘an appalling drinking problem’ has been jailed for several assaults on emergency workers in the form of spitting.
Luke Woodburn, of Salthouse Road, Barrow, was sentenced at Preston Crown Court on October 24 after admitting three counts of assaulting an emergency worker, two counts of using threatening/abusive/insulting words/behaviour with intent to cause fear of unlawful violence and a for assault by beating on February 1 and March 3 this year.
