THE most recent inspection of a dental practice in Barrow has been published by the Care Quality Commission.
Barrow Dental Aesthetics, which is run by Barrow Smile Centre Ltd, received an announced on-site assessment on October 8.
The practice on Hartington Street was found to have met the required regulations across all criteria.
The CQC found the practice to be providing safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led services in accordance with the relevant regulations and taking into consideration the appropriate guidance.
The report, published on November 1, said patient care and treatment were up to standard with infection control procedures in place as well as systems to manage risks.
Inspectors found effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement.
They said patients were treated with dignity and respect and could access care, support and treatment when required.
The practice has seven treatment rooms and provides both NHS and private dental care for adults and children.
During the assessment, the CQC spoke with three dentists, a qualified dental nurse who is also the practice manager, four trainee dental nurses, a dental hygienist and a receptionist.
The report said: “The practice should implement an effective recruitment procedure to ensure that appropriate checks are completed prior to new staff commencing employment at the practice.”
The CQC received feedback from over one hundred patients who provided a positive view of the dental team and the care provided by the practice.
As well as being 'professional’ and ‘caring’ the practice was credited with being ‘efficient’, ‘friendly’ and ‘excellent.
One patient commented: “The staff there are all fantastic. Their quality in person-centred care is exemplary.”
The report said: “Patients felt able to book appointments within an acceptable timescale for their needs and said they had enough time during their appointment without feeling rushed.
“Patients told us they were given clear information to help them make an informed choice about their treatment and any associated costs.”
