THERE has been a confirmed sighting of blue-green algae in Windermere.
The UK Centre for Ecology and Hydrology confirmed the presence of the algae in a section of the lake near Waterhead on November 2.
There have been multiple recent local reports of blue-green algae sightings around Windermere, also known as cyanobacteria.
It is potentially toxic to both human and animal health. While they are naturally occurring, there are also a sign of pollution and are more likely to happened during periods of warm, dry weather.
