Four hotels in south Cumbria have been nominated for an award that finds the best places to stay across Europe.
The shortlist for the 2024 GuestRevu Great Awards was announced in October, with the nominations and eventual winners solely based on guest reviews.
The first awards evening, at which the winners in the Europe, Americas and APAC (Asia and Pacific) categories will be announced, will be held on November 6 during WTM London at Tapa Tapa Wine Bar.
For south Cumbria, the four establishments hoping to put the county on the map are:
-
Elton Guest House in Grange-over-Sands
-
Haven Cottage Bed and Breakfast of Ambleside
-
New Hall Bank in Bowness-on-Windermere
-
The Wayside and Whisky Barn in Whitbeck, near Millom
All four of these hotels are included in the 'Greatest in Europe' category, for businesses with fewer than 20 rooms.

The team at New Hall Bank explained that the award nomination makes all their hard work feel 'worthwhile'.
They added: "We are totally blown away to be one of the finalists for this award, and it's all down to our amazing guests who have taken the time to leave us a review.
"So thank you to each and every one of you."
The shortlist for the Great Awards has been determined based on publicly available online reviews of participating hotels from the three biggest online guest review sources: Google Reviews, Booking.com and Tripadvisor.
