THE ousted former Barrow MP has secured a new job.

Simon Fell, who represented Furness for five years, has announced he will serve as the director for fraud and financial crime at consultancy firm Fullbrook Strategies.

The Conservative, who lost out to Labour Michelle Scrogham in July's General Election, served as the government's anti-fraud champion and previously worked in fraud prevention.

Welcoming him to the role, Fullbrook Strategies said: "We are thrilled to welcome Simon Fell as our new Director, Fraud & Financial Crime.

"With a distinguished career spanning Parliament and the private sector, Simon brings invaluable experience and a genuine passion to tackle financial crime, fraud, and to safeguard vulnerable individuals."

In a post on social media, Mr Fell said he was 'delighted' to take up the role, adding: "Prior to becoming an MP, I spent a decade in the private sector protecting businesses, charities, the public sector, and individuals from this insidious crime, and working hand in glove with industry and law enforcement to improve our defences against it.

"It was an honour to continue this work in Government as the Prime Minister's Anti-Fraud Champion, hosting the first Global Fraud Summit in London, launching the Stop! Think Fraud awareness campaign, and leading work to get industry sharing data more effectively to prevent and detect fraud, and to better protect those targeted by criminals.

"So it is a privilege to join a dedicated, thoughtful and inspiring team with over 100 years of combined experience, offering unparalleled expertise in campaigns, communications, strategic counsel, media engagement, and government relations."

The company says it  brings together a team of 'world leading experts in strategy, research, strategic communications, campaigning and media management' and 'can be trusted to provide bespoke services to a variety of individuals, governments and companies, with the knowledge, relationships and expertise to find solutions to any global challenge'.

It is headed up by founder Mark Fullbrook, who previously served as Liz Truss's chief of staff during her ill-fated 49 days as prime minister.

Mr Fell was first elected in 2019 following two unsuccessful attempts at previous elections, sweeping to victory ahead of Labour's Chris Altree.
