The president of a playground manufacturing business has been named among the top Northern leaders for 2024.

Barry Leahey, of Playdale Playgrounds, has been recognised in the 2024 Northern Leaders list for his contributions to the business landscape and his dedication to 'growth and innovation.'

The list, presented by BusinessCloud, highlights influential figures who have demonstrated 'exceptional' leadership, vision, and impact in their fields.

It recognises the achievements of those who have made a significant impact and continue to drive positive change in the North.

Mr Leahey's inclusion alongside notable figures such as Dragons’ Den star Sara Davies and Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham highlights his 'impact' in the region.

He joined Playdale Playgrounds in 2004 and has been instrumental in transforming the company into a 'market-leading manufacturing powerhouse'.

His leadership has not only driven the success of the business but also demonstrated his 'passion for the region'.

Mr Leahey serves on the Cumbrian Economic Growth Board, which recently succeeded the Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership.

He said: "I am truly grateful to be acknowledged alongside such a distinguished group of leaders and feel privileged to represent Cumbria in this way.

"This achievement reflects the hard work and dedication of the entire Playdale team."

Playdale Playgrounds Ltd has designed, manufactured, and installed more than 25,000 playgrounds in the UK and around the world for more than 45 years.

The business traces its roots to 1735, when the Croasdale family began working in forestry and allied timber trades.

In 1978, it entered the playground industry with the founding of Playdale Playgrounds Ltd.

As Playdale Playgrounds continues to grow, Mr Leahey’s 'vision and leadership' will help in 'shaping the future of the company and the North.'
