The motorcycle ridden by Dave Myers in his final TV series is going up for auction.

Lili Myers, Dave's wife, said the proceeds raised from the auction would be going to charity.

She also spoke about the bike - along with the Dave Day celebrations - at a new exhibition at the National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham on Sunday, October 27.

This display is going to stay at the museum for the next few months and chronicles the life of Dave before his death in February at the age of 66.

Lili said: "That BSA Dave rode in his last series [The Hairy Bikers Go West] is going up for auction for charity.

"BSA [the manufacturer of the motorbike] have been so generous and donated the bike."

'The Hairy Bikers Go West' first aired on BBC in February earlier this year. It saw Dave and his long-time partner Si King travel to the west coast of England.

Exploring Dave's life following the end of his cancer treatment, the series ultimately coincided with his death on February 28 after a two-year battle with the illness.

The show has therefore resonated with fans, earning the programme a nomination for a TV Choice Award, with the winners set to be announced next year.

Lili has recently been raising money for NSPCC Childline, having taken part in a bike ride around Europe this year, with her fundraiser having now tipped past the £1,000 mark.

The Dave Day celebrations also contributed to the work that Childline does nationwide, along with The Institute of Cancer Research.

The event, which took place in Barrow on June 8, ultimately raised £127,318.62, which was split equally between the two charities.

The hope is now that the motorbike, which holds a special place in the hearts of fans and the history of the Hairy Bikers, can add to that total in a significant way.
