DRIVERS have been advised to travel with extra care due to flooded roads following heavy rainf.
Together with Cumbria Police and the Environment Agency, Westmorland and Furness Council’s out of hours duty crews have been responding to reports throughout the night to ensure the network is safe.
The following roads are closed due to flooding:
❌ A595 at Duddon at Duddon Bridge due to severe flooding caused by the river bursting its banks. River levels have also breached the arch of the bridge
❌ Springfield Road, Ulverston due to a burst water pipe that has flooded a number of properties. The area near the school is impassible and the Enviroment Agency crews are onsite.
A council spokesman said: ‘You may come across more flooding on your morning commute. We strongly advise to:
Avoid driving through floodwater for your own safety and choose an alternative route - only an egg cup of water can cause damage to your vehicle!
Call our Highways Hotline on 0300 373 3306 to report any flooding issues.’
