Lakeland are celebrating and reflecting on 60 years of business next month - with help from a Bake Off winner.

The kitchenware brand will be marking the milestone birthday on Thursday, November 7 at their flagship store in Windermere.

The evening will welcome a number of special guests who will make sure that the event is one to remember.

These include bestselling author and Great British Bake Off winner of 2014 Nancy Birtwhistle, along with Lakeland’s owners the Rayner brothers and others handpicked local myLakeland club members.

Nancy will be running a nostalgic baking demonstration creating some celebratory bakes that are sure to be a hit.

And Lakeland’s Club Events Manager, Katherine Kilpatrick, will be taking a journey through the decades and helping Nancy work her magic in the kitchen.

Lakeland began with humble origins in 1964, when brothers Sam, Martin and Julian Rayner helped their dad count polythene bags into packs of 100.

The brothers would go on to take over the company 10 years later, before Lakeland moved into their current home in the 1980s.

Steve Knights, CEO of Lakeland, said: "Trends have come and gone since 1964, but some things never change – like our commitment to putting the customer first to deliver outstanding service and exciting innovations."

By the turn of the century, they were expanding their Kendal site, with the Windermere store doubling in size compared to its original foundations.

Nowadays, Lakeland boasts over 60 shops nationwide, with over 1500 colleagues keeping them ticking over.

The year of celebration also extends to the fifth anniversary of myLakeland, which has grown to 2.5 million members and has helped the company raise £550,000 for charity.
