FITNESS fanatics created an 'electric' atmosphere and raised thousands for a local charity.

The HIIT Company Takeover, organised by Sally Craig, took place at Barrow Park Leisure Centre in support of St Mary’s Hospice.

Sally works as a fitness instructor and uses the events to introduce people to High Intensity Interval Training workouts, encouraging donations to various charities in the process.

She is no stranger to these fundraisers, having set up three previous workout events, but this year's edition is looking to be her most successful to date thanks to its sell-out attendance.

Sally said: "Over the last four years I have organised these events with The HIIT Company, bringing over 100 people together to raise money for other charities such as Cancer Care and 'Looking Good, Feeling Great'.

"Earlier this year sadly I lost my Auntie Donna to cancer and St Mary’s Hospice cared and comforted her, right until the end, along with her family.

"Donna used to love these events so this year I have raised money for the hospice in memory of her."

"They are a wonderful charity, supporting families dealing with heartbreaking circumstances every day - they hold a special place in many peoples hearts," Sally added.

"The atmosphere on Sunday was electric - everyone’s energy levels were on fire and I am proud of each individual who took part.

"Thank you everyone, not only for your hard work and donations to the hospice, but for the support I have received too."

At the time of writing, the workout event has raised £2045, surpassing last year's total of £1500, with each event having brought in more than the last.

The fundraising link will still be active up until Friday, November 1 meaning there is still plenty of time for you to show your support.
