A new set of flood warnings for the high tide overnight are in place across eight areas of Cumbria.

Storm Ashley has arrived, bringing heavy rain, large waves and strong winds.

The Environment Agency has issued eight flood warnings in Cumbria and is advising residents to ‘start acting'.

Barrow-in-Furness

Flood warning around Biggar, Rampside and Vickerstown.

Flood warning between North and South Walney, Cavendish and Ramsden Docks

High tide is expected at 1:45am on 21/10/2024, with flooding possible several hours either side of this time.

Areas most at risk include West Shore Park, Biggar, Biggar Bank, Ocean Road, Carr Lane, Vickerstown Promenade and Rampside areas.

 

Cumbrian coastline

Flood warning at North Morecambe Bay, along the coast from Roosebeck to Carnforth

Highest tide level is expected to be at 1:45 AM on 21/10/2024. Flooding is possible several hours either side of this time.

Areas most at risk include Roa Island, Rampside, A5087 coast road, Aldingham, South Ulverston, Canal Foot, Greenodd, Cark, West Plain Farm, Grange-over-Sands, Meathop, Milnthorpe, B5282 coast road, Sandside and Arnside.                                                                                                

 

Flood warning from Gretna to Silloth, between Longtown and Skinburness

Highest tide level is expected to be at 1:45 AM on 21/10/2024. Flooding is possible several hours either side of this time.

Areas most at risk include Mossband Hall, Rockcliffe, Longburgh, Bowness-on-Solway, Anthorn, Angerton, Kirkbride, Skinburness and Silloth areas.

Highest tide level is expected at 2:15 AM on 21/10/2024. Flooding is possible several hours either side of this time.

Areas most at risk include Rockcliffe, Longburgh, Port Carlisle, Bowness-on-Solway, Anthorn, Angerton and Skinburness areas.

 

Flood warning from Silloth to St Bees, between Allonby and Whitehaven

Highest tide level is expected to be at 2:15 AM on 21/10/2024. Flooding is possible several hours either side of this time.

Areas most at risk include Allonby, Maryport, Flimby, Workington, Parton and Whitehaven areas.

Areas most at risk include Allonby, Maryport, Flimby, Workington, Parton and Whitehaven areas.

 

Flood warning from St Bees Head to Haverigg, along the coast from North Head to Haverigg

Highest tide level is expected at 2:15 AM on 21/10/2024. Flooding is possible several hours either side of this time.

Areas most at risk include beachfront properties at Coulderton, Nethertown and Braystones. Low lying properties at Saltcoats, Ravenglass, A595 at Muncaster Mill Bridge and the Esk Estuary.

 

Everyone is being asked to stay away from beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths and roads as large waves and sea spray could be dangerous.
