PEOPLE have come together to help a Barrow man in his 80s find his missing dog after she disappeared more than three weeks ago.

Daisy, a four-year-old Chinese Crested powderpuff, went missing from Broadway in Roose on September 24 at around 1pm.

Owner Dave Gillespie said Daisy went missing when a caller, delivering fast food leaflets in the area, posted something through the letterbox and left the gate open.

“Our front gate is always closed,” Dave said. “It was only a few minutes and she was gone. I’m afraid this has made me very angry at the person for being so irresponsible.”

Dave is retired and in his 80s.

He said: “I’m not as fast as I used to be. To be honest, it’s left my wife and me devastated.

“She is a beautiful little dog, so timid and gentle, but nervous with strangers.”

Shortly after Daisy went missing, Dave posted on social media to ask people to keep an eye out for her.

Sarah Thornton has organised a search for Daisy on Sunday October 20, starting at 4pm.

Those who are taking part are asked to meet at the entrance to the docks at the Sandgate end and are advised to bring a torch and a stick to use to part the trees.

The plan is to split up into groups and cover any of the areas Daisy has been spotted, focusing on Smeaton Street and around St George’s Church.

Sarah said she organised the search to hopefully bring Daisy home as she hasn’t been sighted for a while.

Anyone who thinks they have spotted Daisy is advised not to chase or try to catch her, and instead, contact Dave on 07341830339.
