Overwater Hall, north of Keswick, has been advertised for sale with Colliers who described the property as a ‘hidden treasure’.
The hall has been ‘significantly and tastefully extended’ over the years and is marketed with an asking price of £1,450,000.
This ‘lovely’ Georgian country house hotel was originally built by the Deputy Governor of Jamaica at the beginning of the 19th Century.
It was acquired by the current owners in 1992 who have ‘lovingly’ refurbished the house over the past three decades and are now looking towards retirement.
The estate agent credited them with paying great attention to detail and successfully preserving and enhancing the historic ambience of the house with a clever mix of traditional and contemporary style, resulting in a tasteful, colourful and refined luxury country house hotel.
Occupying a ‘stunning’ location in a beautiful valley between Binsey and Caldbeck Fells, the property sits amid 5.7 acres.
Guests pass through a classic portico Georgian entrance to the reception hall, which features a marble fireplace and ‘glorious’ plaster ceiling.
The snug offers a corner bar, while the restaurant boasts a bay window and marble fireplace.
A drawing room with a bay window and feature marble fireplace, includes French doors to the sun terrace.
Accommodation includes 11 ‘high quality’ letting bedrooms, each with a large ensuite bathroom.
