A bride and groom celebrated their ‘magical’ wedding in the Lake District with 92-year-old grandad.
Emma Jane Blackburn, a 28-year-old spa owner, tied the knot to Adam Edgar Dean, a 33-year-old estate agent.
The couple, who are both from the Isle of Man, went to school together but ‘didn’t really speak’ until meeting in a pub years later.
“He asked me to go on a walking date, but I thought he was just being drunk and silly, however he followed this up the next day and the rest is history,” Emma said.
She loved how chatty, outgoing and fun Adam was to be around and he liked how Emma was always up for an adventure.
The pair got engaged in July 2023 when Adam proposed in front of their dream house.
“We had spoken about getting married as soon as we started dating,” Emma said. “But it happened within the year which was a pleasant surprise."
Their special day was held at The Belsfield Hotel in Windermere in July 2024 in front of 120 guests.
Emma shared the beautifully sad and happy reason why they chose to get married in the Lake District.
“I lost my brother in a tragedy. On the Isle of Man everyone knows each other’s business and we felt suffocated, so we escaped to live in the Lakes to heal," she said.
“It brought us happiness in such a hard time in our lives. Everyone welcomed us and treated us like we were meant to be there.
“We also had our first trip away together in the Lake District so it meant so much for both of us and just felt right.”
Emma was able to walk to the church with her parents and bridesmaids and said the most precious moments were when her dad saw her in her dress for the first time, walking down the aisle and being able to share the day with Adam’s 92-year-old grandad.
“The day was just magical! I took every moment in and just had the best day," she said.
Emma said it was also a ‘bit mad’ as people in Bowness cheered her on her way.

For their honeymoon, the newly-weds enjoyed a cruise around Norway and the Arctic Circle which included adventures and lots ofThere was even more joy to be found at home, as upon returning, Emma and Adam found out they were having a baby.
Mr and Mrs Dean would like to thank Julie Robinson Photography for capturing the special day, Matt Jones Films, who videoed the day, The Belsfield Hotel, hairstylist Jake and make-up artist Polly Winder.
