A WOMAN has been ordered to pay compensation to a female police officer following an assault in Barrow.
Kelly Wilson, of Lord Street, Barrow, admitted she assaulted PC Dowden by beating her when she appeared at South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court on October 14.
Court records show the officer was acting in the exercise of her functions as such a worker on February 17 this year when Wilson committed the offence.
The 34-year-old also confessed she had been in possession of cannabis on the same day in question.
Magistrates took into account the defendant’s guilty plea to the offences at the first opportunity before imposing a £160 fine – uplifted from £120 due to the aggravation of the assault being on an emergency worker.
Wilson was fined a further £80 for being in possession of the Class B drug and ordered to pay compensation to PC Dowden of £50, as well as court costs of £85 and a surcharge of £96.
Magistrates ordered for forfeiture and destruction of the drugs.
