A BARROW man has admitted he caused another male grievous bodily harm without intent on Boxing Day last year.
Christopher Allen, of Annan Street, pleaded guilty to the section 20 offence when he appeared at The Sessions House, Preston Crown Court on October 16.
The 28-year-old also confessed to having a knife in his possession on Bridge Road, Barrow, on December 26 last year.
Allen’s defence counsel, Louise Watson told the court: “There is no dispute in what happened. Things got terribly out of hand with people in drink on Boxing Day."
It was not said in court what had happened.
Co-accused Bradley Fones, of Cardiff Street on Walney, pleaded guilty to affray relating to the same incident when he appeared at South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court on September 18 this year.
Court records show Fones – also aged 28 – admitted his actions constituted to using or threatening unlawful violence towards another causing that person present to fear for their personal safety.
He was due to be sentenced in court on October 16 but Her Honour Judge Sarah O’Brien, who was presiding over the two cases, ordered a pre-sentence report in both cases before passing judgement.
The duo will be sentenced separately back-to-back at Preston Crown Court on January 15 2025.
They were granted conditional bail not to contact each other directly or indirectly.
