A competition is being run in south Cumbria later this month to get people in the Halloween spirit.

Hosted by The Coro in Ulverston, the pumpkin decorating contest will take place on Saturday, October 26 from 9.30am until 12.30pm.

The judges will examine all the entries from 12.15pm with prizes given to the best pumpkins on the day.

The organisers said: "If you're looking for pumpkin decorating inspiration this Halloween, come along to our special Coro Craft Club session where our art tutor will be on hand with the knowhow and materials to make your seasonal squash as terrifying as possible."

Whilst it will be free to attend, The Coro advised that it is best if people bring in their own pumpkins to decorate - though a small number will be available on the day.

Ulverston Town Council encouraged people to get involved so that they can take their creations to the Haunted Hoad event at the Sir John Barrow Monument on Sunday, October 27.
